Soul Reserve 03:29
This stupid song it could get better this very line it could take you anywhere. Don't you give up don't you give up don't you give up Give in. Delete in haste lines that no longer serve Copy and paste Save to the soul reserve Don't you give up don't you give up don't you give up Give in. Hold me in your ears Hold me in your ears Hold me in your sorrow. I know it's hard all of this silence but here comes the part when your going to change your mind. Don't you give up don't you give up don't you give up Give in. Don't you give up don't you give up don't you give up Give in.

Saturday 04:13
You left on a Saturday It's not usually that way You cross the border just doing what you oughta I'll be loving you all that way I sit between heaven and hell Just trying to keep everybody well But if I cross the border 'stead of doing what I oughta You would not love me all that way You would not love me You love to show me where you dine And where you sip all your fine wine When you get a break I'm just glad for your sake And I'm glad of you all that way I'm trying to fill you in About all that makes my heart sing But I get the feeling the more I'm revealing You would not love all that way You would not love me. So I will try, I will try To keep my heart near your eye And do whatever i can do To get back to you You're back on a Saturday It's not usually that way But a change could be good I'll be doing what I should I'll be loving you all that way Can we live in this new way?

If you're damned if you do And damned if you don't Sit down beside me I'll be damned if I'll move And I can bet that you won't So two wills collide We could just stay here We could just stay here When you're walking the line And your balance has gone Fall over with me We can breathe in and out Until the end of the song Shoulder to sleeve We could just stay here We could just stay here We could just stay here We could just stay here I'm so sick of soul-searching middle-eights Oh what catastrophe awaits us For one minute or three I am happy to be No before, no after Trying to bottle-up time Our tempos align A steady surprise

Love is Easy 03:55
Love is easy Easy as ABC Until you remember those other letters like D D for the Disney dream and the common theme in which people get their whole lives fixed by love Does that ever happen to you? Love's easy Easy as ABC But you should recall those subsequent letters like P P is for your Prince Charming he loves you only he never looks at anybody else. Do you know anyone like this? I hope you fancy them rotten Hope they're thoughtful and mild I hope they drive you inappropriately wild The love that's going to make you is your own Don't be afraid to share it You can give it away Enjoy the hanging on every word they may say I don't mean that you should be alone The love that's going to make you is your own Love's Easy Easy as ABC It's hard to ignore though A little letter like E E is the elephant in the room, the one you assume that nobody else here can see When we're loving awkwardly Loving is easy It is easy as ABC But you should remember there are other letters like G G is for jealousy (well it isn't actually ) But if you spell it right is spoils the song And jealousy's in everyone I hope you fancy them rotten Hope they're thoughtful and mild I hope they drive you inappropriately wild The love that's going to make you is your own Don't be afraid to share it You can give it away Enjoy the hanging on every word they may say I don't mean that you should be alone The love that's going to make you is your own.

Marie Kondo 03:29
Hello Dress! I have got to throw you out. You once hung upon my shoulders as transparent as this doubt. A single thread that's requiring of repair but we are never gonna fix this so these shoulders remain bare I need to throw you out, I need to throw you out But there's no decluttering guru can help me to bin you So we're just gonna hang there A thing of white. Not for purity but maybe for surrender I wore you to say stupid things. But that's alright Because these days I'm only wearing you for yoga Though heaven knows you are too tight I need to throw you out, I need to throw you out But there's no decluttering guru can help me to bin you So we're just gonna hang there Oh they can keep all their fast fashion You know that I can only do ethical I don't even want to wear these clothes When every season feels the same We pull the thread, unravel blame Hanging on the line, a family of rippling sunshine We look much happier don't we? Billowing and empty without the contempt we fold away.

I get this nagging feeling you're waiting for me to give you a piece of mind It would only release me and surely release you and I know that we should be kind But, it isn't my turn Isn't my turn You sit in silence even though you made the call And i'm hanging up it's over to you. It's abundantly clear there's a worm in your ear and I think it's leaving you flat The theme is oblique and the signal is weak But there's just no denying the fact that.. It isn't my turn Yeah it's probably your turn You sit in silence even though you made the call And i'm hanging up - over to you I think you're losing me amid diplomacy Someone write me a song that I can hang my hat on It isn't my turn It isn't my turn You sit in silence even though you made the call And I'm hanging-up!

Disclaimer 03:36
This is my disclaimer: all characters appearing in this work are fictitious and any resemblance to real persons whether living or dead is purely coincidental, surely surely I can stand that if you can stand that This is my defining illusion I think that I've got it in me To set out in the open Be naked, be cold but be free All you want is a love without name All you want is a life without pain Surely I can stand that if you can stand that Oh, how does it feel when you hear your name Oh, I'm gonna say it again and again and again Again, Again This is my depressing conclusion I had to be wrong to be me And the more you deny it the deeper the trouble will be 'cause I don't want a love without name And I don't want a life without pain Tell me you understand that if you understand that.

about

“If you want to pause and savour time for a bit, Softly Loudly is the place to be.” SoulReserve

“A beautiful collection of songs” Jazz fm

“An impressive collection…sure to resonate; the restraint of the playing only makes this more poignant.” Yorkshire Post

“Nothing short of amazing..really resonates with its time.” BBC Radio Bradford

“Beautiful!” BBC Radio Leeds

Softly Loudly entwines truthful lyrics, melting vocal harmonies, shimmering piano, bass, percussion and soundscape, to create a genre-defying collection of songs with hints of Emma's jazz roots and flavours of contemporary folk, soul and blues. "A grown-up lullaby - a hug in a song."

To record the album (unexpectedly during lockdown), she enjoyed the company Adam Nabarro-Steel (Bass), Neil Hooton (drums) and Debbie Harris (vocals) - often just remotely because of the changing social-distancing parameters.

"As in every area of life, we gradually found ways to adapt. None of the songs were written in or about lockdown, but it's definitely hiding in there, between the notes, in the natural sounds and the sense of human adaptability."
